Day 3...Today's reading is Genesis chapters 6-9.

Don't you just love it when you're doing a Bible study and your pastor preaches on the passage that you are studying. Well, that happened to me today. Our pastor preached on Noah.

Did you know that Noah was 500 years old before Shem, Ham, and japheth were born. And I thought I was old when my youngest was born!!! But, he must have done something right in raising those three boys, because they were the ones who believed what their father was preaching to the people and followed their father into the ark.

Noah's faith was what saved him, his wife, their three sons, and their sons wives. Can you even imagine what it must have been like to preach for 120 years and not have any converts outside your immediate family? That's how long it took to build the ark. He was following God's directions and the entire time he was trying to convince the people that God was going to destroy the earth, those wicked people were laughing at him and mocking him and they all perished. The phrase "and Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him" appears throughout this passage. Noah was consistent in his faith, as a result, he and his family were saved from God's judgment.

In chapter eight God said to Noah, "be fruitful and multiply on the earth" sounds familiar doesn't it. It's the same thing he told Adam and Eve to do. Here we go again!!

Noah and his family were responsible for repopulating the earth.
God's plan was perfect, we are only here today because of the faithfulness of Noah.

How do we know what great thing or things God's plan is bringing about in our lives. Our days are ordered by the Lord and he is counting on us to be faithful and obedient to Him in our lives too, just like Noah. We each have specific things that can only be accomplished through our faithfulness to God and by fulfilling His perfect plan for our lives.

What is it that God wants you to do this year that only you can do?
Reach that neighbor or co-worker for Christ or influence your children to be faithful to God's purpose for their lives. Tithe regularly so that those little D.L.Moody's (preachers) can come to Sunday School on the bus. Keep supporting that missionary so that the people in Asia, Africa or Nepal can come to know Christ as their savior. What ever it is, with God's help get it done!!

We may not live to be 120 or 150 years old, but God has a plan for the days that we do have. Just do it!!! Just be faithful....fulfill His plan, finish the race that He has called you to run for His glory and purpose.

Noah lived to be 950 years old. Wow, we will only have a fraction of that time,
so, let's make it count for the glory of God.....Just Do It!!
