Exodus 8-10
When we left you last time we discovered that Pharaoh's sin and refusal to let God's people go, had caused a series of plagues to begin. Today we will pick up with the second plague in chapter 8 and end with the ninth plague in chapter 10.

An interesting article was brought to my attention. A study done at the University of Cambridge, in England, disclosed that the brain chemical serotonin, which is linked with people’s sexual desire, appetite, sleep, memory and learning, had been injected into dessert locust.

The study found that the normally passive, antisocial insects, when injected with serotonin, were changed. The usually harmless insects became very aggressive and became a group of ganged up bugs that can devastate crops. The researchers wrote that the nerve-signaling chemical serotonin appears to be triggering up the behavior changes in grasshoppers. According to the researchers, the results of the study could help to prevent the frightful swarms of desert locusts.

The Ninth Plague: Darkness (10:21-29)

Over and over, again and again, Pharaoh was given the chance to comply with God's message that was given to him through Moses. Yet he refused to yield his pride. So, as God always does, He proceeded to show His power. Unfortunately, the rest of the population of Egypt was suffering along with him. The first nine plagues were minor compared to the tenth one that we will see tomorrow in chapter 11. I can't help but believe that after the first or maybe the second plague, I would be ready and willing o submit to the will of God; yet, there have been times in my life when I knew exactly what God wanted me to do, but refused to do it until the consequences were harsh enough to make me realize that God meant business.
Don't let this be true in your life. Seek God's will and when you know what it is; don't resist it, yield to it and be blessed.
